A well setup computer lab At Ungalimited Primary School

Thanks to KOICA for teaching this ICT for COBET project, after finishing the training for some female students which was held in the E3EMPOWER offices located at the summit center, now all computers and equipment have been transferred to the unlimited primary school.

With God’s help, e3 staff have successfully set up a computer lab with 20 users and students have already started studying ICT. We also trained two teachers, although currently e3empower has provided one staff member to monitor and ensure that students receive appropriate training.

The students are happy that now they can use computers with the digital library to study and do various practices, but also that not all students who had the opportunity of ICT training at the summit center will now all learn because we have set up a lab in the school.

Every day the students spend six hours entering the computer lab in four groups, its hard but the teachers are trying. They would need some assistants after we reduce the support! We will help until the local teachers feel confident managing the lab. That is when the students teaching students process will begin!

Students will grow with a good study habit and joy of learning- this is what we all want!

The ICT project that has been sponsored by KOICA for Arusha girl’s high school started in 2021/2022 where more than 200 female students have received ICT training where a large percentage did not have it before.

Among the students who benefited from the training is Krishna Merere who became a form six student with subject combination of PGM. Krishna had this to say:

“I am very grateful to e3empower Africa and KOICA’s funding for enabling us female students of Arusha secondary to get this ICT training for one year, most of us did not know how to use a computer before getting this training but now each of us can use a computer and prepare some documents such as writing letters, the use of excel and also computer programming languages such as HTML, C++. I am very grateful to the e3empower staff Mr. Frank & George for helping us throughout the training period because it will help us even more when we become a university. My dreams are to study Computer Engineering due to inspiration I got after one year of ICT training here at school.”

Krishna Merere is one of the students who became very active in the class and they gave themselves with all their heart and set aside their extra time during lunch time and break time to enter the computer lab and study through Rachel and some videos on YouTube. He also asked questions frequently when he encountered challenges in his studies and it helped him a lot because he was one of the students who did better in his class in all subjects, especially physics, chemistry, and ICT.

After the results of the national examination this year, Krishna passed with the highest grade i.e. Divisio One, and in all his studies she got an A grade.

Crop Storage Project

Farmers have grown up with the challenge of not finding a suitable market for their produce due to selling their produce at the current price in the market at that time for fear of their produce being damaged. For example, if a farmer has grown tomatoes and they are already ripe in the field, he has to take them out of the field at that time and take them to the market without knowing what the price is.

This crop storage project using ozone has the ability to store the farmer’s crops for a period of one more month without spoiling, during which time the farmer will be looking for a market with the best price to sell his crops.

At the moment we have started as a pilot and our storage area is in Tengeru, but in the future we hope to establish a large storage area that will be of great benefit to many Tanzanian farmers.

Ensures food security and minimizes post-harvest losses. Preserves and protects harvested crops.
Maintains crop quality and prevents spoilage.
Extends the shelf life of agricultural produce.
Provides a steady food supply throughout the year.

Codding Compitition From 18th To 20th July 2023

For the first time we have developed a coding competition, which started on 18th to 13th and included a total of 20 participants from Arusha, Dar and Dodoma. The participants were f4, f6 and university students who gave themselves all their time during the competition.

Big thanks to the Voice of calling team from LA in USA who prepared all these competition questions and did the assessment as well.

The programming language used in this competition is python where the questions were made in the style of multiple choices and another question with information that requires a programming solution. So every participant managed to get a prize although the top three winners got more prizes.

We didn’t watch this competition with the aim of getting a prize, instead we watched it as a platform to build more programming skills and make them engage in ICT more.

And finally we had a ceremony with all participants on the 22nd afternoon.

A New ICT STEM Computer Lab With Digital Library Setup At Unga Limited Primary School

New ICT STEM Computer lab with digital library rachel is nicely setup and students are taking MS office lessons in the ICT classes at Unga Limited primary school for both COBET students as well as s6 students!
Thanks to KOICA project, and now is a transitioning period to a local school and the local teacher is co teaching with our staff!
A total of 150 students will take the computer Basic and robots in the fall semester and it will repeat every semester with nee 150 students.
COBET Students and some teachers will stay after school to do this but they are all excited and happy in this new intervention! We have seen the results in the last two years!
Good neighbor leadership from Zanzibar visited us for their ICT integration project. It is good for being a good model case. E3 staffs worked hard for this transfer to happen during June – Good job done !!
The school leadership was also very helpful to us.
So many young Tanzanian students are being benefited from the projects and will continue!

THE IMPACT OF ICT PROJECT ON FORM SIX NATIONAL EXAMINATION AT ARUSHA GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL 2021/2022/2023

Before the arrival of the ICT project under the KOICA sponsorship, students were faced with the challenge of where they would find study material such as books because Arusha girls high school does not have a book library. So the teachers were giving information to the parents to buy books and other materials for their children to study, very few students were able to afford it because the parents did not have enough money.

After this ICT project, the students have had the opportunity to get a digital library (Rachel) as well as the internet where they have been using the computer lab to study every day during break time, lunch hours and when they have private studies sessions. It has helped them a lot to increase their academic performance and even lead to a better performance in the national examination compared to the previous period before this ICT program.

ICT Program Increases Students Performance at ARUSHA Girls High School

ICT Program implemented at Arusha Girls High school for the last two years, funded by KOICA and implemented by E3empower Africa, brought a small success on Students’ performance as we collected their scores of their field study for the two consecutive years: some increase in their performance and happy faces with confidence.

We are delighted with the increase in performance of the students in school subjects, and convinced that the ICT skills and technology in general is so important to Advanced Study. It is building a new study habits to research on particular topics instead of just memorizing, thus increasing their confidence to find the truth and the detail on their own instead of relying on teachers. It took a while but our flip learning teaching process enabled them to discover this new process.

This give us the pride to stand up and to promote ICT training more to as many as students possible. In fact, this is one of our major purposes at E3empower Africa; to ensure that ICT Education is offered to all students so they can find their own ability as well as their own identity and to raise the bar higher in all other sectors in this country in this digital era. I cannot wait to find out their National Exams grades compared to the last year! Our Hope is confirmed and remains strong!

ICT Training Confirms that Students are More than Able

It was an exceptional opportunity for female pupils (COBET) from 3 primary schools to finish the phase 4 training of ICT project for the development of the girls’ academic capacity from 09 -Jan -2023 to 26 May-2023

The students underwent an intensive five-month training program, during which they dedicated themselves to rigorous academic preparation and skill development. The program aimed to equip them with the necessary ICT knowledge, comprehension, numeracy, and self-confidence to excel in their final exams.

Throughout the five months, the students engaged in comprehensive study sessions, covering the core subjects required for their higher learning. They attended lectures, participated in group discussions, and worked on practical assignments to strengthen their understanding. It included Robotic, and simple programming such as Scratch.

The training program also included regular assessments and evaluations to track the progress of each student. This allowed the instructors to identify areas where additional support or focus was required, ensuring that all students received personalized attention and guidance.

At the end of five months of training students did post examination in mathematics, English, Science and ICT for us to measure their progress for five months. Almost all students passed with an average of 70% in post examinations. And they are now ready for research and self-learning, given the infrastructure.

20 computer donation in order to empower girls in ICT with the funding of KOICA

A total 150 girls from five primary schools in Arusha City have completed a special tailor-made information technology training offered by e3empower with the sponsorship of KOICA .

At first the students were a little bit scared, but eventually they caught on and started enjoying the training.

Appreciation from hon. the education officer of the city of Arusha Hassan Bakari about the COBET project

The training, which took about four months, has enabled the students to acquire the skills to use computers, the education officer for primary schools in the city of Arusha, Hussein Bakari, who was also an official guest at this event, has said that he will be a good monitor of the equipment to ensure that it works well and is maintained in good condition. A total of 150 girl’s schools in Arusha City completed special training offered by KOICA

A total of 150 school girls from five primary schools in Arusha city have competed special tailor-made information Technology training, offered through the Korea International Cooperation Agency.

Koica conducted the training through the E3Empower Africa organization operating from Arusha, Tanzania. The girls were also taught how to make Robots and use Artificial Intelligence in controlling the androids.

“At first the student were a little bit scared, but eventually they caught on and started enjoying the training”, said the founder and director of E3Empower Organization, Ms Ji Young Rhee.

The girls are pupils from five public education institutions in Arusha including Kaloleni Primary School, Salei, Osunyai, Sombetini and Unga-Limited Primary school.

The Director of E3Empower Ji Young Rhee explained that the ICT Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) training sessions ran for four consecutive months.

Upon completion of the program the pupils were awarded with certificates. There were also prizes for the best performing students and equipment to their schools.

“We selected the Unga-Limited Primary School, to be installed with 20 computer sets for further training and practices as well as digital projects creation among the 150 graduates”, said Ji Young Rhee

Of the five education institution the unga-limited primary school happens to be central and easily accessible to all the pupils who have undergone the computer training at the e3empower training center, located in the summit center building.

The primary school education officer for Arusha urban district, Hussein Bakari wa the Guest of Honor during the graduation ceremony.

“I will personally endure that all the computers and related accessories donated to the schools are well taken care of and used accordingly”, he said, lauding the Korea International Cooperation agency (KOICA) for its dedication in ensuring that Tanzanians children become computer literate

Mwanaidi Abdallah is a teacher at Unga-limited Primary school and expressed gratitude for the computers donated to the institution, saying the equipment will also help to relay training to other pupils who didn’t attend the session

One of the parents whose children benefited from the training, Asia Abdallah said the skills have enabled her child to be more confident in handling computers and even use the machines to write their homework’s

Saidani Gandiwa a class six pupil and Shatma Ramadhani in class five, both being graduates of the program said they were first afraid of computers but are now experts in handling basic programs and can even train other students at school
